HCM CITY — HCM City authorities on Tuesday organised a four-day cyber security drill in an effort to enhance its cyber security readiness amid the growing sophistication of cyber attacks throughout the country.

Taking place until December  二 九, the HCM City Network Security Drill  二0 二 三 will be conducted both in-person and online, utilising live combat drills and scenario-based drills.

The drill, organised by the Department of Information and Co妹妹unications, will involve various government agencies, State-owned enterprises, and major corporations in the city.

The objective of the drill is to simulate and test the city’s response capabilities in the event of a cyber security incident, including scenarios such as data breaches, malware attacks, and cyber espionage, said the department.

The drill will involve simulated cyber security incidents that will test the response and coordination of various Government agencies and organisations.

It will also include training sessions and workshops to improve the overall cyber security awareness and capabilities of the participants.

The exercise also aims to identify potential weaknesses in the city's cyber security infrastructure and develop strategies to address them.

It will provide an opportunity for participants to exchange best practices and lessons learned in dealing with cyber security incidents in the city.

In recent years, Việt Nam has witnessed an increase in cyber security threats, with a rise in cyber attacks targeting Government agencies, businesses, and individuals.

The issue has prompted the Government to focus on cyber security as a national security priority and to invest in efforts to strengthen the country’s cyber defense capabilities.

Việt Nam faced the third highest number of cyber attacks in Southeast Asia last year, according to global security firm Kaspersky. — VNS
